Snoop Dogg Smokable Songbook by Pereira & O’Dell

Probably the most brilliant interactive product tie-in of all time, to promote Snoop Dogg’s own brand of rolling papers, Pereira and O’Dell have rolled this excellent  songbook made from hemp-related materials with the spine of the book acting as a match striking surface. Inside, each page is a rolling paper with Snoop’s greatest songs and lyrics written on them, in non-toxic ink, of course. Gotta be careful what you put in your lungs!

I planned on doing this a while ago, but then I got high.

Ok here’s the recipe for how to make the bong I started my stoner career off of, back as an avid Energy Drink consumer.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 24oz. (700ml) Energy Drink can with cap (Clean!)

Aluminum scrap from another can (2-3 inch square)

Straw or tube of some sort (metal preferably)

Electrical Tape

Scissors

Needle

X-acto knife (or any blade)

Part one: The Carb

First you want to align your downstem along the side of the can. Determine how deep you want it, what angle, etc.

Next you want to cut a cross at your determined carb with your blade.

Then widen the cross into a hole that your downstem can comfortably slide in and out of. I usually use various pens to slowly size it up.

Then begin layering electrical tape over the hole. Afterwards you will cut another small cross into the tape. You can do all the layers and then cut, but it’s best to cut a small hole in each layer as you add them to make it easier. Stretch the tape similarly to the first hole, but it should form a tight seal around your downstem, not a loose one. In the end your downstem should be airtight, but able to slide out of the carb.

(Protip: Electrical tape usually has its melting point listed on the inside of the roll. Go with the highest one!)

Part Two: The Bowl

Now we’ll begin making a bowl. Take your scrap piece of Aluminum and trim it down into a circle. Cut a line along the radius, from the edge into the middle.

Then roll it along the line you just cut. Roll it tighter than you want it and it will spring back into a wider resting position. If the bowl is too big or irregular, you can unroll it and trim it down.

Finally, Insert the bowl into the stem, and tape it on. Try to keep the tape as far from the lip of the bowl as you can without sacrificing stability or seal. Different stem widths act differently; this one is wider, so it was easy to tape the bowl into it, but it was difficult to cut the carb for it. Smaller stems prove for an easier carb, but a harder bowl in my experience, but experiment!

And Presto! You have yourself a bong! Your bowl and stem should slide out from your carb to clear it. It might be sticky at first, so you may need to widen your carb, and it should also get more lenient over time. Enjoy!
